The Prudential Education homepage provides an authenticated experience for customers with products from their employer or purchased independently. Users with employer-provided products see specific content based on their terms, while those with personal products first view relevant content, such as retirement fund information, and can explore additional interests.
For the most part, these pages exemplified a typical use of the Prudential Design System. Standard components were utilized to effectively group content. Since the entire system is modular, I could easily add or remove rows of content and replace them with marketing materials or callouts relevant to the user.
Before this flow was created, users could access a repository that merely consisted of company-generated materials categorized into five different groups. As the content developed and the volume expanded to include videos, infographics, podcasts, and webinars, there was a clear need to redesign the flow.
Importantly, authenticated users can now create profiles, log in, save content, curate information, and track their progress on interactive tools. While some of these features were previously available, there was no dedicated homepage for users to return to. Now, users can focus on specific categories and, in some cases, drill down into more specific topics. For example, a user can select "family" and then choose to explore "starting a family," "having a family," or "retiring after the children have left the nest."
The category selection feature was newly created for this section. With a card flip interaction, users can adjust their content feeds as they wish. Additionally, the category selection was transformed into a banner ad used in other sections of the website, with the icons created for each category frequently appearing in marketing materials.
The overall layout changes based on the user’s permissions. Partner companies can co-brand their pages and curate content that is specifically related to their employees’ products.
Thank you for reading.
